SOUTH BAY ASSEMBLYWOMAN BONNIE LOWENTHAL ENDORSES JANICE HAHN FOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
Long Beach solon wants to help Hahn make history as first woman Lt. Governor
(Los Angeles) – Assemblywoman Bonnie Lowenthal (D – Long Beach) today announced her support for Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn’s bid to become California’s first-ever woman lieutenant governor.
“Janice Hahn is a leader on port issues in California, and she understands the job of lieutenant governor better than anyone else,” said Lowenthal. “I look forward to working closely with Janice when she chairs the State Lands Commission.”
“Bonnie Lowenthal has been a strong leader for Los Angeles and Long Beach and I am honored to receive her support,” Hahn said. “Bonnie has been a tireless advocate for her district and the working men and women of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. I am honored to have her support.”
Lowenthal was elected to the state Assembly in 2008, after serving on the Long Beach City Council and Long Beach Unified School District Board of Education. Her district includes California’s only inhabited island (Catalina), the largest port complex in the nation and one of the most economically and ethnically diverse populations in the state. Lowenthal chairs the Assembly Committee on Aging and Long-Term Care and the Select Committee on Ports.
Hahn also has been endorsed in the Democratic primary by EMILY’s List, National Organization for Women (NOW), National Women’s Political Caucus, California Young Democrats, California Federation of Teachers, California Professional Firefighters, Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), Los Angeles City Fire Department Chief Officers Association, Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association, Los Angeles Airport Police and Southern California Pipe Trades District Council 16, among others.
