Avalanche of Key Endorsements Continues to Flow Towards Congresswoman Hahn’s Re-Election Campaign
SAN PEDRO, CA- Continuing to establish herself as the leading candidate in the race for California’s new 44th Congressional District seat, today Congresswoman Hahn received a highly desirable endorsement from a major women’s grassroots local Democratic Club in Long Beach, the Long Beach Democratic Women’s Study Club, along with the club’s President, former Long Beach-based State Senator Betty Karnette.
Congresswoman Hahn won the club’s endorsement with an overwhelming 70% of the total votes cast —a huge blow to Hahn’s opponent, Congresswoman Richardson, who previously served as a Long Beach City Councilwoman and is based in Long Beach.
“We are confident that Congresswoman Hahn is the better choice for women in the race for California’s new 44th Congressional District,” said former State Senator and Long Beach Democratic Women’s Study Club President, Betty Karnette, “As a new member of Congress, she’s already proven herself to be a steadfast leader in the battle to protect women and their rights. Most recently, she’s stood up to extreme right-wing radicals who proposed the bill H.R. 385, which aimed to prohibit women from access to critical health services, even in the case of an emergency. And before her election to Congress, throughout her tenure on the LA City Council, she was always a trusted and loyal advocate for women. These are the reasons that we felt compelled to give her re-election campaign the full weight of our endorsement.”
“Long Beach-based former State Senator Betty Karnette has always been a champion for Long Beach, and the many communities she represented while in the legislature, especially when it came to issues surrounding education, women’s rights, and growing our local economies,” said Congresswoman Hahn. “Her endorsement means a great deal to me.”
Congresswoman Hahn added, “Protecting women’s rights and furthering the advancement of women have always been issues I’ve been passionate about throughout my entire career. I am honored to have the support of the Long Beach Democratic Women’s Study Club, and I plan on continuing to fight for the issues we both care deeply about every day that I serve in the U.S. House of Representatives.”
Last week Congresswoman Hahn earned endorsements from Former Compton School Board Member and leader in the African American community, Lyn Dymally, the Mayor and Vice Mayor of South Gate, former California Lieutenant Governor and current Congressman John Garamendi, as well as, the San Pedro Democratic Club.
