Dear Senator Florez:

I understand that Chairman John Burton, on behalf of the California Democratic Party, has sent letters to both of us asking that we not seek the endorsement of the Party in our primary campaign for Lieutenant Governor.

As we have seen in the past, seeking endorsements in the primary can be damaging to the Party.   To avoid a costly and divisive fight, I am asking you to join me in not seeking the Party’s endorsement in the primary.

If you would please respond to my request by mid-January, I would greatly appreciate it.
