LOS ANGELES CITY CONTROLLER WENDY GREUEL ENDORSES COUNCILWOMAN JANICE HAHN FOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR

City’s fiscal watchdog served with Hahn on City Council

(Los Angeles) – Los Angeles City Controller Wendy Greuel today announced her support for City Councilwoman Janice Hahn’s bid to become California’s next Lieutenant Governor.

“Janice Hahn’s experience, background and temperament makes her the most qualified to be next Lieutenant Governor of this great state,” said Greuel, who served with Hahn on the City Council. “From her economic development background at the Port of Los Angeles and her tireless work to bring tourist dollars into the state to help revive our economy, Janice is ready to lead.”

“As I work to become California’s first woman lieutenant governor I am proud to have the support of one of the state’s most influential woman leaders”, Hahn said. ” Wendy’s work to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently and effectively is a model I hope to implement statewide.”

Greuel was sworn in as City Controller of Los Angeles on July 1, 2009, only the second woman to be elected to a citywide office in the city’s history. The controller’s job is to increase governmental efficiency and save taxpayer money by improving operations, conduct financial and performance audits of all city departments, offices and programs, and monitor and report on all matters relating to the city’s fiscal health.

Hahn also has been endorsed in the Democratic primary by the California Federation of Teachers, California Professional Firefighters, National Women’s Political Caucus of California, Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), Los Angeles City Fire Department Chief Officers Association, Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association, Los Angeles Airport Police and Southern California Pipe Trades District Council 16, among others.
