HAHN TOPS HALF A MILLION RAISED
Outraises Richardson Yet Again
SAN PEDRO, CA- Continuing to make major headway and illustrating the strength behind her re-election bid, today the Janice Hahn for Congress campaign announced that Congresswoman Hahn raised $66,257.45 by the May 16, 2012 fundraising deadline. For the same fundraising quarter, Hahn’s opponent, Congresswoman Richardson only brought in $35,665.06, of which $10,000 was a personal loan from Richardson, to her campaign.
As of the last reporting deadline, on March 31, 2012, Hahn outraised Richardson by more than double. Hahn raised $209,800, while Richardson raised a mere $81,325.
Congresswoman Hahn has a history of being a successful fundraiser, most notably in her recent Special Election to Congress, where she raised an impressive $1.5 million. Additionally, Hahn has outraised Richardson in the total amount raised for the 2012 cycle, even though Hahn began raising for this cycle many months after Richardson, as a result of her Special Election.
Significantly, Hahn raised a total of $503,748.77 for her re-election, as of the May 16, 2012 deadline, while Richardson has only brought in $430,485.81.
“Congresswoman Hahn has continued to raise what we need to run an aggressive media program,” said John Shallman, Hahn Campaign Senior Strategist. “We have the funds to get Congresswoman Hahn’s message of job creation, increased international trade in our ports, and better schools, out to voters across the new 44th Congressional District. With just a week left before the Primary Election, we are confident that these strong numbers will continue to grow and help fuel our campaign with momentum beyond the primary—all the way to the November General Election.”
Beyond fundraising, Hahn has firmly cemented herself as the strong frontrunner in the race due to her sustained momentum and her vast list of endorsements, including: the Los Angeles Times, Daily Breeze, California Democratic Party, the LA County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, California State Assemblyman Isadore Hall, former Congresswoman Diane Watson, California State Assemblyman and California Latino Legislative Caucus Chair Ricardo Lara, as well as California Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez.
