ED BEGLEY JR. ANNOUNCES SUPPORT OF COUNCILWOMAN JANICE HAHN FOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
We need real green leadership in Sacramento, longtime enviro says
Los Angeles – Actor and longtime environmental activist Ed Begley Jr. today announced his support for Los Angeles Councilwoman Janice Hahn for lieutenant governor.
“Janice has been a voice for Mother Nature her entire career as a public servant,” Begley said. “She will be the greenest lieutenant governor in the history of California, and I can’t wait to see her be the kind of environmental leader we need in Sacramento.” The lieutenant governor sits as one of three members of the State Lands Commission, which has far-ranging authority over lands, waterways and other natural resources.
.”Ed Begley’s endorsement is really the green seal of approval, from someone who walks the walk when it comes to the environment” Hahn said. “He is a green example for all of us, and I am delighted he has chosen to support my candidacy.”
“Begley is an Emmy-nominated actor for his work on “St. Elsewhere,” and has also starred in numerous other TV and film projects. Currently, he appears in a new CBS comedy, “Gary Unmarried.”
Begley’s work with the environmental community includes, but is not limited, to Friends of the Earth, Environmental Media Association, Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, Earth Communications Office and the Environmental Research Foundation.
Hahn also has been endorsed in the Democratic primary by the California Federation of Teachers, California Professional Firefighters, National Women’s Political Caucus of California, Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), Los Angeles City Fire Department Chief Officers Association, Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association, Los Angeles Airport Police, ILWU Local 13 PAC and Southern California Pipe Trades District Council 16, among others.
