Taking Care of Our Veterans When They Come Home
Janice believes that we need to take care of our veterans when they come home. She understands that our troops and their families have paid dearly for our military adventures. Since the beginning of the war in 2003, we have suffered 4,442 US soldiers killed, and 32,046 seriously wounded. Of those wounded, an estimated 20% have serious brain and/or spinal cord injuries. What’s more, an estimated 30% of ALL combat veterans develop serious mental health problems within 3-4 months of returning home.
If elected to Congress, Janice will fight to protect and enhance veterans benefits, especially healthcare for those who have been wounded, or suffered mentally or emotional damage as a result of their service to their nation.
As our new Congressmember, Janice will fight to:
• Fully fund veterans benefits, especially healthcare for wounded veterans
• Protect veterans’ hospitals and clinics from being closed or losing services
• Enhance existing benefits to provide counseling and reintegration services to ALL combat veterans
• Streamline systems to make accessing earned benefits easier and more efficient
• Dramatically reduce our involvement in disastrous foreign wars and bring our troops home
• Provide access to college, vocational classes and job training for our veterans, equipping them to find good jobs when they return home
